"Public Champion" Steve Molitor Loses to "Warrior" Celestino Caballero
Celestino Caballero dominated Steve Molitor for 3 rounds in front of a hostile sold out crowd of 5000 at the Casino Rama entertainment center. It only took 52 seconds in the forth round before Caballero put an end to Steve Molitor's night, his undefeated streak, and his IBF Superfeatherweight reign. Steve Molitor now goes to 28-1, while Celestino Caballero improves to 31-2 while retaining his WBC title. This was Molitor's 4th fight this year, and his 5th in a span of 13 months. Perhaps it was due to his management problems outside the ring, or training too much in the ring, or just Caballero's 4 inch height advantage, but Steve Molitor simply could not mount any significant offense in this fight, as pointed out repeatedly by the announcers of Showtime Sports.
Adding insult to injury, Celestino Caballero called Steve Molitar out, saying that he was not a warrior, but only a champion for the public. Finished with the Canadian Kid, Celestino Caballero turned his attention to Mexico as he called out several top fighters from that country in hopes of setting up another unification match in 2009.
